Ex-Zambales mayor nabbed in drug raid

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – A former mayor of Castillejos, Zambales, an Australian, and another man were arrested by joints operatives from Olongapo City Intelligence Unit (OCIU) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during a raid inside a hotel in Barangay Pagasa, Olongapo City, Saturday.

Reports reaching the office Chief Superintendent Leon Nilo A. dela Cruz, Central Luzon police director, said the suspects were identified as ex-Castillejos mayor Enrique “Jun Equing” Magsaysay, Paul Mason, an Australian,’ and Mark Antony Quinday.

Dela Cruz said the raiding team led by Chief Inspector Julius Cezar Domingo, chief of Olongapo City Intelligence Unit; were armed with a search warrant when they swooped down on Sanja Ha Inn on Gordon Avenue in Barangay Pagasa, at about 1 a.m. yesterday. They allegedly caught the suspects in possession of illegal drugs. Lawmen seized 14 small plastic bags of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and other drug paraphernalia.

The suspects are now detained at detention cell of the Olongapo City office of the PDEA.
