QC junkshop owner shot for reprimanding youths
A junkshop owner was gunned down in Quezon City past midnight Sunday after reprimanding a group of teens for shouting profanities and making fun at him and his friends.
Investigator, PO3 Jaime Jimena, said that they were able to arrest two of the four male teenagers who were involved in the death of junkshop owner Edgar Palamos Sr., 39, a resident of 1 San Miguel Compound, Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
Palamos died on the spot after having been shot in the nape during the shooting incident that took place at 12:05 a.m. Sunday in front of a house at 242-A Banlat Road, San Miguel Compound, Barangay Tandang Sora.
Jimena identified two of the arrested suspects as fourth year high school student Jerick Palic, alias Jeric, 16, and Junemar Tumadlas, alias Umal, 17, both residents of Tandang Sora, Quezon City. Two other suspects, known only as Jay-Jay and Tom-Tom, managed to elude arrest.
The investigator learned that the victim was drinking liquor at that time along with several friends when the group of youths passed by and started shouting profanities at them.
Jimena noted that the group of the suspects were rowdy and were found shouting at the group of Palamos whenever they pass by the area.
Because of this, Palamos shouted at the suspects whom he reprimanded and warned not to hurl profanities at them. In response, the group of the suspects left but returned to pelt stones at the group of Palamos.
The group of Palamos started to take cover but one of the suspects approached the victim and shot him in the head. After the victim fell, the suspects quickly fled but Tumadlas and Palic were arrested by responding barangay tanods.
