CBCP backs foreign missionaries
Despite threats to security, foreign missionary works should continue in the country, a church official said Sunday.
"Sa aking palagay ay hindi sila dapat i-pullout dahilan sa mga banta sa kanilang buhay at seguridad. Ang mga religious kahit ang mga Columban, I admired their heroism and their missionary work. Kasi nga tulad ng nangyari kay Father Sinnot," Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Jaro Archbishop Angel Lagdameo said in an interview over church-run Radio Veritas.
Irish priest Michael Sinnott was abducted last Oct. 11 from his home at the St. Columbian compound in Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur.
Reports point to rogue commanders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front as the ones responsible for his abduction.
