CEBU CITY – The family of Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, a formidable political clan in this vote-rich province, is not in favor of having Cebu’s first lady governor run as Lakas-Kampi-CMD’s vice-presidential bet in tandem with Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro in the 2010 elections.

The Cebu governor’s father, Rep. Pablo Garcia, said majority of the family members are not in favor of Garcia leaving the province and run for a higher position. Garcia still has one term as Governor.

Her father, Rep. Garcia, himself a former governor of Cebu, said initial talks revealed that Gwen is not keen on running for higher position as she has earlier said she will continue her last term and run for reelection in the 2010 elections.

“Majority of the family do not want her to run for a higher position,” said the Garcia patriarch.

“In the family, majority does not favor for Gwen to run for a higher position,” said the Garcia patriarch.

The father of the Cebu governor, who is currently out of the country, said he was surprised with the news, as bannered by one major national newspaper, that his daughter is being considered as running mate of Teodoro saying he thought the issue was already closed as she had already said she had no intention of doing so.
