He’s one of NBA’s most impressive players today and is widely considered one of the greatest athletes of his generation. In his sixth season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he won his first NBA Most Valuable Player Award, becoming the first player in Cavaliers franchise history to receive the award. He continues to break NBA records and receive honors. Moreover, his extraordinary basketball skills have won him the admiration of fans from across the globe, and have made him an international icon. He’s none other than NBA superstar LeBron James. Now, see how Lebron rose to stardom in the new movie that’s inspired by his true story – “More Than A Game.”
“More Than A Game” combines a series of unforgettable one-on-one interviews with rare news footage, never-before-seen home videos and personal family photographs to bring this heartwarming and wholly American story to life.
The film was initially conceived by Co-Writer/Director Kristopher Belman as a tribute to his hometown of Akron, Ohio. A high school basketball team led by a young phenom named LeBron James had become the talk of the city, and Belman, a film student at Loyola Marymount University, decided to chronicle their season on camera.
After six years of shooting footage and interviewing players and their families, Belman realized he had the makings of a feature-length documentary.
Producer Harvey Mason, Jr. believed the true story went beyond the team’s on-the-court heroics. “Basketball was just the vehicle that moved our characters forward. At the heart of the film are their friendships, and what these guys sacrificed for each other.”
The film also features Sian Cotton, Dru Joyce III, Willie McGee, Romeo Travis and Coach Dru Joyce II.
“More Than A Game” slam dunks exclusively at SM theaters on Nov. 4. From Viva International Pictures.
