In a press conference held at the Club Filipino in Greenhills, Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero announced his departure from the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC).

Escudero, however, remained, mum about any aspirations for the 2010 elections, contrary to what the press and the general public were expecting.

Escudero asked for more time to consider candidacy despite pressure from some partylists and other sectors.
