Majority of Filipinos are unsatisfied with President Arroyo’s performance in the past three months, getting a failing mark of 66.71 percent in the October 2009 survey conducted by research organization Ibon Foundation.

The nationwide survey conducted from Oct. 2 to 8 among 1,495 respondents showed that 74.93 percent were not satisfied with Mrs. Arroyo’s job performance.

Mrs. Arroyo’s latest rating is unchanged in comparison to her July 2009 rating of 74.78 percent.

Only about 8 percent of Filipinos are satisfied with the President’s performance, while 16.51 percent are unsure of their opinion.

The survey showed that the overall mark of the President was 66.71 percent, which was agreed by 67.25 percent of Filipinos.

Meanwhile, 27.61 percent of Filipinos gave Mrs. Arroyo a passing grade of 78.72 percent.

In comparison to the July survey results, President Arroyo’s mean grade was unchanged from 66.61 percent.

Moreover, the survey showed that 81.14 percent of Filipinos claim that the current financial crisis has worsened its effects on the family’s job, livelihood or income in the past six months, up from 79.92 percent in July.

Meanwhile, 1.02 percent said there was no improvement in their family’s job, livelihood or income in the past six months.

About 17 percent of Filipinos believe that the current financial crisis has no effect on their lives.

Some 76 percent of Filipinos said the Arroyo government was not able to handle the financial crisis well, while 6 percent said the government managed the crisis properly and 17 percent are unsure.

Asked about the effect of the current economic crisis in their family’s job, livelihood or income in the next six months, 75.22 percent claimed that it could worsen. Such pessimism is up from the 74.92 percent in July.

Only 6.89 percent said it will improve, while 16.17 were hesitant to give their opinion.

The Ibon survey has a margin of error of plus or minus three percent.
