The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) recently convened a multisectoral workshop that sought to harmonize environment laws and policies to better protect the environment amid the adverse effects of global warming and climate change.

The United Nations Development Program-sponsored one-day Ecological Policy Act Advocacy Workshop was intended for the crafting of an advocacy plan in support of House Bill 2637 or “An Act Providing for the Framework in the Conservation, Development Management and Utilization of Environment and Natural Resources.”

Otherwise known as The Ecological Policy Act, the proposed measure was first introduced by Zamboanga Sibugay Rep. Belma Cabilao during the 13th Congress.

At least 30 participants from various government agencies and non-government organizations (NGOs) highlighted the need to fine-tune government policies on environment and natural resources.
