Peaceful All Saints’ Day observed in CV
CEBU CITY – Central Visayas was generally peaceful and quiet as millions trooped to the various cemeteries here over the weekend to pay respects to their departed loved ones amid pocket rainfalls, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7.
PRO 7 Director Lani-O Nerez said there were no untoward incidents recorded in the region inline with the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, although there were still cemetery goers who had to be stopped for carrying bladed weapons and alcoholic beverages.
“It was generally peaceful,” Nerez told reporters, citing police visibility and the assistance of security volunteers manning each cemetery for the generally peaceful conditions prevailing in the city during the weekend observance of the feast of the dead.
In Cebu City, the City Police Office Director Patrocinio Comendador said the police confiscated fewer bladed weapons and alcoholic beverages at the entrance of cemeteries.
“Everything was normal in the city, very quiet and peaceful,” Comendador said after inspecting five city cemeteries — Carreta, Queen City Gardens, Calamba, Pardo, and Cempark.
