P290,000 given by cops to informants
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet — Police here handed a total of P290,000 to two informants who reportedly helped and aided law enforcers in the arrest of two top most wanted persons in the region over the past several weeks.
Chief Superintendent Orlando Pestano, director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, said the first informant, whose name was withheld for security reasons, was given the cash reward for positively pinpointing to police led by Superintendent Cesar Pasiwen, deputy chief of the regional intelligence division, the location of rape suspect Carlito Bolislis.
Bolislis was then arrested at Sagpat proper, Kibungan, Benguet on February 15, 2009 for five counts of rape on the strength of a warrant issued against him.
The suspect allegedly raped the twin daughters of his sister-in-law sometime in September, 2002 while threatening them with a knife.
On the other hand, the second informant also received from Pestano a cash reward of P90, 000 for helping authorities arrest murder suspect Noli Gubiangan on February 9, 2009 in Bayabas, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The arrested suspect and his other companions were responsible in the shooting to death of a certain Vincent Adol along East Gibraltar road, Baguio City.
Pestano hailed the informants for their utmost cooperation in providing vital information to the police leading to the arrest of the suspects so that their victims would be given justice for the crimes committed against them.
The regional police director said the cooperation of the informants is a clear indication of the close working relationship of the community and the law enforcers in curbing criminality in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
On the other hand, the police official hailed his men for the successful arrests they have made against wanted persons in the region so that the wheels of justice will take its course against the suspected criminals.
For his part, Senior Superintendent Alexander Pumecha, head of the regional intelligence branch, assured they will continue to be actively involved in the various police operations to arrest wanted persons who are in hiding.
