A 16-year-old girl who allegedly got depressed for waiting so long for her live-in lover to accompany her to the cemetery allegedly ended her life by drinking silver cleaner in Tondo, Manila, on Sunday afternoon.

Police identified the victim as Jennifer Joy Maglente, an out-of-school-youth of Building 20, Temporary Housing, Vitas Tondo, Manila. She did not reach Tondo General Hospital alive.

Detective Jonathan Kabigting of the Manila Police District (MPD)-homicide section, said the victim was reportedly found at 4 p.m. inside her house.

The victim and her live-in lover Jayson Chompico were at the house of an unnamed auntie as they were preparing to go to the cemetery to visit the tombs of the departed loved ones when she asked him to return to their Vitas’ house to get clothes.

The victim waited for long for Chompico and confronted him for taking so long to get the clothes from their house in Vitas. Chompico explained his side when he arrived at the auntie’s house but the victim got depressed as she was not contented with her live-in lover’s explanation.

Maglente left her auntie’s house and boarded a pedicab to go home in Vitas. Jayson followed Maglente to their house and she did not open the door despite repeated knocks at the door.
