Army aides remote villages in Compostela Valley
BUTUAN CITY – Despite the continues harassment by the New People’s Army (NPA) in some areas in Compostela Valley (ComVal) Province, a combat maneuvering battalion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) turned over key “Kalayaan sa Barangay Program’ (KBP) projects to villagers of far-flung areas of the province.
Lt. Colonel Gilbert F. Saret, commanding officer of the 25th Infantry Battalion, 10th Infantry Division, personally turned over the facilities early this week to local officials and village beneficiaries at the GK Village in Barangay Kinuban, Maco, ComVal.
The KBP project is composed of electrification of the entire GK village, a farm-to-market road that connects the village to the Kinuban Elementary School, and additional classroom for the said school.
ComVal Gov. Arthuro T. Uy and Maco Mayor Arthur Carlos Voltaire Rimando expressed gratitude to the AFP for the laudable effort to help the far-flung villagers.
“In one way, your troops are also here to deliver the needs and services to the local populace together with the different stakeholders like the local government units, line government agencies, non-government organizations, teachers and all other sectors in the society. Truly, this initiative of our soldiers hand-in-hand with the different stakeholders has presented a no-nonsense government in motion, said Saret. (Mike Crismundo)
