Environmental management training course starts Monday
Government agencies and local companies can take a revolutionary training course on environmental management system (EMS) to safeguard the environment and cut costs due to resources wastage. The seminar will be held on November 9-13, 2009 at the Philippine Trade Training Center.
As highlighted by the recent onslaught of typhoons which battered the country, the adverse impact of global warming and environmental degradation have made environmental protection an issue of the highest urgency, says Bernardo J.B. Mitra Sr., Chairman of Global Competitiveness Inc. (GloComp).
Mitra said the IRCA-accredited EMS Lead Auditor Course being offered by GloComp in partnership with London-based CMC International will give Filipino companies a comprehensive framework to reduce environmental hazards, fully comply with all environmental regulations here and abroad, and make their operations more efficient in the use of resources.
He added that the course, spearheaded by GloComp and CMC International, offers a completely new approach to EMS Lead Auditor training in the Philippines, as this will be based on ISO 14001 standards recognized worldwide to ensure that Filipino entities meet strict environmental regulations in the most advanced economies.
The course likewise satisfies the training requirements for Lead Auditor Certification with IRCA. IRCA or International Register for Certificated Auditors is the world’s original and largest international certification body for auditors of management systems. It provides international recognition of competence for 13,500 auditors in 120 countries and a global benchmark for auditor training.
"Certification from this course and compliance with all its recommended practices will help Filipino companies become globally competitive," says Peter Scott, Vice President of GloComp. “This is exactly why we named our company as such.”
Scott said the EMS course is perfect for auditors who are assigned by companies to ensure they are complying with all environmental regulations and making efficient use of resources. This means that having an EMS will more than pay for itself via reduced costs and more business opportunities for environmentally-certified firms.
