KIDAPAWAN CITY – At least 300 plainclothes policemen were fielded since Saturday at the surroundings of the venue of the first ever “solidarity reunion” of five Muslim provincial governors and more than a hundred mayors in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

At the “solidarity reunion” slated Monday, ARMM officials are expected to reaffirm their loyalty to the administration’s Lakas-Kampi-Christian, Muslim Democrats party.

Also Monday, ARMM Gov. Datu Zaldy Uy Ampatuan will deliver his 5th State-of-the-Region Address (SoRA) before members of the Regional Legislative Assembly (RLA) at the ARMM Regional Complex in Cotabato City.

Chief Supt. Paisal Umpa, director of the ARMM police, said that aside from the 300 plainclothes authorities, they are also set to deploy additional 500 operatives around the area.

The additional police personnel, according to Umpa, will ensure the safety of the local executives, foreign and national dignitaries attending the SoRA.

The Army, on the other hand, will also establish security checkpoints along the highways linking the Cotabato City to nearby ARMM provinces, according to 6th Infantry Division (ID) spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Ponce.

During the SoRA, Ampatuan will update his constituents on his accomplishments and socio-economic plans for the coming months.

RLA Speaker Rejie Sahali-Generale said they are expecting a 99-percent attendance of the ARMM’s five provincial governors and all of their more than 100 constituent-mayors.

Also among the invited guests are diplomats from embassies of Muslim countries and member-states of the European Union.

Sources from the Office of the Regional Governor (ORG) said Ampatuan is expected to expound alongside his administration’s agenda his consistent campaign for “full consultation" in the Mindanao peace process “with all stakeholders including ARMM.”

The 42-year-old Ampatuan, the youngest and first reelected ARMM chief executive, will announce the gains and prospects of his five-point agenda, which focuses on peace and security, infrastructure, regional economy, social services and good governance, ORG officials said.
