Two explosions happened only two hours apart in Quezon City and Mandaluyong early morning of November 9, 2009.

The first explosion happened at around 3 am when an explosive device rocked the San Miguel Corporation (SMC) office located at the corner of Julia Vargas and San Miguel Avenue.

Fortunately, no one was hurt or killed in the explosion and only the lights of the signages and metal letters of SMC Buildings facade were damaged.

Investigators believe that the explosive used was not planted but merely hurled from afar.

Bomb experts are still determining the type of explosive used in the bombing, as they are having difficulty in gathering any bomb components at the scene.

Meanwhile in Quezon City, the front portion of the Puregold in Commonwealth was also rocked by an explosion at around 5 am.

The ceiling and lights were almost completely destroyed because of the huge explosion.

Witnesses told investigators of the QC Police District (QCPD) Bomb Squad that before the incident they saw a man hurl something contained in a plastic bag towards the entrance of the said establishment.

The suspect was supposedly on board a taxicab, but witnesses weren't able to get the plate number of the said vehicle.

Security guards of the said establishment, on the other hand, told police that before the explosion they saw smoke coming out the plastic bag.

Police believe that either a hand grenade or dynamite was used in the bombing, based on the damage caused by the explosive.

Authorities are now determining whether the two separate bombings are somehow related.
