The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Regional Director Roberto Rosales ordered the District Directors of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and Eastern Police District (EPD) to focus on the investigation and pursue all leads that will help expedite the identification and arrests of the suspects in the explosion that occurred in their area early morning of Monday.

Rosales came out with a directive to allow investigators from the District Offices to concentrate their effort on available evidence and to exhaust leads based on intelligence information so that perpetrators and their motives will be known the soonest possible time.

He also allays fears from the public and assures that the police will not stop until the perpetrators have been arrested and charged.

The NCRPO chief also appears not to speculate on the motive behind the explosion by saying that “the available evidence found show no direct link between the two explosions.”

Rosales also asked the Metro Manila residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activity to Patrol 117 or directly to NCRPO Hotline 838-3203 and 838-3354 so that the police could act immediately on any incident.

On the explosions that occurred early morning of Monday, the first incident occurred at about 3:02 a.m. in front of the building of San Miguel Corporation (SMC) located at the corner of Julia Vargas Avenue and San Miguel Avenue, Mandaluyong City.

The explosion damaged the company emblem and formed a small crater at the ground just below the signage. No injuries were reported.

It was learned that the explosion emanated from a plant arrangement located below the company emblem.

Members of the Explosives and Ordnance Disposal of the EPD recovered a plastic container but no components of any improvised explosive device were recovered.
