Police rule out terrorism in bombings
Police investigating the twin bombings in Mandaluyong and Quezon City have ruled out terrorism as a possible motive in one of the incidents but is open to other possibilities with the other.
It can be recalled that two explosions happened only two hours apart at the office of San Miguel Corporation (SMC) in Mandaluyong City and in front of the Puregold supermarket in Commonwealth, QC.
Superintendent Carlos De Sagun, the chief of the Mandaluyong City police that based on what they have gathered through their investigation last Tuesday they have already ruled out terrorism as the motive.
De Sagun explained that there had been no threats issued against the said corporations before the bombing.
Although a protest action happened before the said twin bombings, the demonstration ended peacefully.
Protesters were supposedly against the SMC's plan to build a dam in the Rizal province.
The QC Police District, who are investigating the other half of the two bombings, on the other hand are looking at the possibility that the motive could be business-related.
Despite this, police are still looking at other possibilities but have so far not linked the bombing to any terror threat.
A bomb exploded at the corner of Doña Julia Vargas Avenue and the San Miguel Drive, destroying the signage and letter's bearing the corporations name at around 3 a.m., Tuesday.
The explosion was followed by another explosion in Quezon City at around 5 a.m. after a man on board a taxicab hurled a plastic bag in front of the said establishment.
