FVR: Next president should boost RP position in ASEAN
Former Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos on Wednesday said he is yet to announce the presidential candidate he will support in the 2010 elections but stressed that the next president should strengthen the country’s position in the Southeast Asia region. The former president is the chairman emeritus of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD.
“Everybody postponed their announcement of candidacy for their tandems, even the Comelec postponed the deadline for the registration of candidates kaya postpone din ako [on the announcement],” Ramos said in an interview with reporters during the annual celebration of the US Veterans Day Wednesday, where he was guest of honor.
He said he may announce his bet after his trip to Qatar where he will be attending an international conference on education starting November 15.
“I’ll be back within five days and I will say it then but first of all, be sure you elect from the very top all the way down to the local somebody whose brains are green,” he said.
Asked if he is referring to Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard bearer Gilbert Teodoro, Ramos said, “Di ko sinasabi kung sinong susuportahan ko at hindi ko pa sinasabi kung di ko sinusuportahan.”
