Coming oil price hike will be gradual
Despite the lifting of the oil price freeze beginning on Monday, Malacañang Sunday assured that the oil price hike will be gradual, adding that oil companies will be implementing discount programs to ease the burden of the general public.
Presidential spokesperson on political affairs Gary Olivar, in an interview over government-run DZRB, said programs such as offering of discounts, especially in areas devastated by the recent typhoons, are expected to be implemented by oil firms following the lifting of the oil price freeze.
He likewise assured that the oil price hike will be gradual.
“May inaasahang mga programang inilatag ang oil industry lalo na sa pagbibigay ng discounts sa mga lugar na naapektuhan ng natural calamity,” Olivar said.
“Hindi ganoong magiging kadalian ang pagtaas ng presyo nila para mabawi ang mga nalugi sa kanila,” he added.
Olivar meanwhile said the government is hoping for continuous transparency and cooperation of the oil firms following the lifting of the executive order.
“Ang Pangulo ay may kakayahan at political will to make difficult decisions kung kailangan para sa kabutihan ng nakararami,” Olivar said.
