Janice de Belen addresses controversy with Mona Lisa smiles
After her revealing interview on “Sis” on Nov. 9 in which she talked about her Facebook message that alleged ex-husband John Estrada’s nil financial support for their children, Janice de Belen only gave Mona Lisa smiles when cornered recently by the press.
Have you heard from John after that “Sis” interview?
Janice smiled.
Any feedback from his camp?
She smiled again.
Why do you think it became such a big deal?
The TV host just kept smiling.
When she finally spoke up, Janice firmly said, “Ayoko ng magsalita about it. Basta, I stand by what I posted on my Facebook status. However anyone wants to analyze what it means, basta ‘yun ang ni-post ko.”
Janice revealed that she has received a lot of encouraging words on the matter even from people she doesn’t know.
“I think many people believe in what I’m fighting for. Kasi nga naman, kung di ko kayang ipaglaban ang mga anak ko, sino ang pro-protekta sa kanila?
“And if I have to repost that message again, I will do it.”
An article that was posted on Manila Bulletin Entertainment Online last Nov. 10 reported that Janice told TV host Paolo Bediones in that “Sis” episode that she will not gain from John’s child support.
“I’m also working so whatever he gives I have no part of. Why do you think I’m working hard? Hindi naman para sa akin lang, ‘di ba?
“Ang mga issues n’ya sa buhay n’ya ngayon, wala akong pakialam do’n. Eto lang. Hindi dahil nabu-b’wisit ako sa ‘yo. Hindi sa kanya pero do’n sa ginagawa n’ya sa mga anak n’ya,” she said.
The TV host admitted that she didn’t think the message would create that big a noise considering it was the second time she had spoken up about the subject.
Janice mused, “Then again, I am entitled to speak out my thoughts. At nagkataon that Facebook is a big network that’s why anything you post becomes like a headline in a tabloid.
“But again, I wouldn’t have posted it kung hindi ako naniniwala sa mga sinasabi ko… kung hindi totoo ‘yung mga sinabi ko.”
The press caught up with Janice when she hosted the UFC Tomato Sauce Guisado Guessado cook-off at Market! Market! last Nov. 14.
The cook-off also featured performances by celebrities Raymond Lauchengco, Manilyn Reynes, Jolina Magdangal and Jan Nieto.
The event was in line with the launch of the UFC Tomato Sauce Guisado, a new product that its makers claim is the first and only tomato sauce that’s already been sautéed with real garlic, onions and tomatoes and especially blended to capture the true guisado taste.
