Jolina’s silence fuels curiosity
Popular singer-actress Jolina Magdangal left the entertainment media buzzing when she refused to be interviewed during an event at Market! Market! last Nov. 14.
Jolina, who is usually accommodating to the press, was among the performers during the UFC Tomato Sauce “Guisado Guessado Cook-Off” as with TV host-actress Janice de Belen.
But unlike Janice who was initially hesitant to give an interview only to relent after some prodding, Jolina, after consultation with her manager Perry Lansingan, was firm on her decision to not grant the press an audience.
Jolina's unexpected decision perplexed many of the press people. Questions such as why she moved to the stable of Perry Lansingan after being handled for so many years by her dad Jun Magdangal; why she was booted out of “SOP,” GMA's Sunday noontime show; what she felt when she was not asked to report back on “Unang Hirit;” and how she reacted when she was not chosen to be one of the hosts of the newest “StarStruck” season -- wafted in the air like burnt tomato sauce.
Jolina's love life is hot copy nowadays after she went public with her romance with Rivermaya drummer Mark Escueta. The public got a glimpse of the two together when Jolina brought Mark to the cast party of TV series "Adik sa 'Yo."
According to Jolina, Mark has endeared himself to her family.
"Ang nagustuhan ko sa kanya, masyado siyang marespeto hindi lang sa akin kundi maging sa pamilya ko," she said in an interview.
Jolina's dad, Jun Magdangal, and her mom were present at the UFC event.
Other guests included Manilyn Reynes, Raymond Lauchengo, and Jan Nieto.
The celebrities later joined a taste test, sampling tomato-based Filipino dishes courtesy of homemakers Doña Rikada and Mrs. Guiisado.
