Tim Yap wants to be ‘multimedia master’

Self-proclaimed eventologist Tim Yap is not interested in entering politics.
"Para sa akin, politics is something that influences the state of a country [kaya] ayaw ko siyang bahiran ng impluwensiya ko. Kung meron mang papasok sa pulitika, sana manggaling 'yong desisyon sa konsyensya,” he said in a recent event held at Eastwood Mall.
Talks of Tim joining politics came on the heels of his recent fund-raising project, which raised more than a million pesos for Ondoy victims.
Although he is known to be generous, Tim does not relish the idea of seeking public office.
He refused to divulge which candidate he is supporting in the coming elections, although he hinted on having problems deciding between two presidentiables.
"Honestly, wala pa. 'Di ba lahat naman tayo, torn pa [sa kung sino ang pipiliin]. Parang alam ko lang kung sino ang hindi ko gusto. Meron akong mga dalawang pinagpipilian," he said.
Some 30 local bands performed at the fund-raising concert titled “Hoy! Hoy! Ondoy,” which Tim organized with some of his celebrity friends.
Tim is not only a popular event organizer, but a club and restaurant owner, a columnist, a TV host, an editor, an entrepreneur, and a creative director.
"I want to be a multimedia master," he quipped.
Nowadays, Tim wears the hat of one who raises awareness for victims of the recent typhoons.
He recently shot a commercial for National Geographic to appeal for help. Also featured in the commercial were fellow celebrities Heart Evangelista and Bianca Gonzalez.
"We're appealing for help for the Philippines. Meron doon [information about] bank account ng Red Cross, bank account ng Indonesia and the Philippine Red Cross [to which people could send their donations]," he said.
That said, the propagator of Embassy is still into bars and nightclubs. Tim said he'll soon open bars in Pampanga and in other provinces.
Tim is also set to conquer TV. He and comedian Mister Pooh will soon be seen on QTV in a show akin to “TMZ.” This is aside from his online show, "Tim's Table," on which he features the latest trends in lifestyle, bar scene, and the like.
Tim dips his fingers into acting via his first movie, "Mano Po 6: My Mother."
"'Yong scene ko, that's the opening scene of the movie. So, ako, si Kris (Aquino), si Sharon (Cuneta). Parang ako, CEO ng company and I will introduce 'yong company nina Sharon at Kris.
But the shooting was postponed he said. "They're having some problems with the shooting. Parang si Boyet [de Leon] went to the US. But may naka-schedule na shooting this week," he said.
Tim said he never dreamed of becoming a movie star.
"Si Mother [Lily Monteverde] lagi niya akong sinasabihan, 'Halika, gawa na tayo (ng movie). Sumali ka na sa Mano Po.' Eh, Sharonian talaga ko! Sabi ko, 'Sige ngayon, game na ako.'
“Before [kasi] may apprehension pa ako. Hindi ko naman gustong maging actor. Gusto ko lang maging TV host, 'yon talaga ang focus ko."
This party animal was excited over his first movie project that he didn't even ask for a talent fee.
"Okay lang kahit wala," he quipped. "It's no brainer. It's a movie with Sharon and the scene I'm [doing is] with Sharon and Kris. Nagpakuha pa nga ako ng photo with Sharon and Kris, eh."
