Warriors deal disgruntled Jackson to Bobcats

OAKLAND, California, November 16, 2009 (AFP) - The Golden State Warriors dealt Stephen Jackson to the Charlotte Bobcats as part of a four-player NBA trade on Monday.
Charlotte sent guard Raja Bell and forward Vladimir Radmanovic to Golden State for Jackson and guard Acie Law.
"We are excited to add a player of Stephen's calibre to our franchise," Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins said.
"He is coming off arguably the best season of his career and we believe he will help our team on both ends of the floor with his scoring and defensive abilities.
"He also brings experience going deep into the playoffs, including winning an NBA championship with San Antonio."
Jackson requested a trade from the Warriors in the offseason and he was suspended by the club for two pre-season games for misconduct.
The 31-year-old Jackson signed a three-year contract extension with the Warriors in November.
In nine games this season, Jackson had averaged 16.6 points, 4.7 assists and 3.9 rebounds. He has 15.5 per game career scoring average.
Jackson has played for half a dozen teams in his career. He is noted mostly for his role in an ugly brawl five years ago in Detroit between visiting players and Piston fans. He was slapped with a 30-game suspension for his part in the fighting.
Bell is a career 41 percent shooter from three-point range. He was averaging 12.0 points and 4.2 rebounds in five games with Charlotte.
