AFP soldiers donate blood in Mindanao
BUTUAN CITY – At least 15,000 cc of blood was donated by Army soldiers during a blood letting activity, said Capt. Emmanuel R. Garcia, chief of Public Affairs Office (PAO) of the Army’s 10th Infantry Division (ID), on Friday.
Garcia said the blood donation happened during the blood letting activity held at the Army headquarters at Camp Apolinario on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The activity was in partnership with the Davao Volunteers Corps (DVC), a non-profit civic organization of professional elder women from Regions 11 and 12 who support indigent patients, he said.
The DVC is headed by Fe Elito together with the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Davao City Chapter.
Major Gen. Carlos Holganza, commanding general of the Army’s 10th ID, lauded the advocacy of DVC and the volunteerism of soldiers who donated blood.
“The officers and members of DVC deserve our praise as they tirelessly work for our indigent patients who need the liquid of life badly. Our soldiers also deserve our admiration as they willingly donated their blood in line with our selfless service to our people specially our indigent patients. ” Holganza said.
In August this year, soldiers from the 10th ID celebrated their anniversary by also donating 45,000 cc of blood to the PNRC.
