Power bills now payable through credit card
CEBU CITY – In order to reduce the long queue in payment centers, power distribution firm Visayan Electric Company (VECO) announced its acceptance of electric bill payments through a credit card.
The partnership between VECO and Unionbank for this purpose was forged last Friday. Under the agreement, a customer could pay his monthly VECO bill through the bank’s Gai Visa credit card.
“The partnership poses a lot of advantages to VECO customers like not having to go to VECO payment centers,” said VECO Vice-President for administration and Customer Service group, Ricardo Lacson. “If customers are short of cash and unable to pay their bill, they can now use the credit card instead of having the inconvenience of borrowing money or worst, have their lines disconnected.”
Manuel Santiago Jr., Senior Vice President and General Manager of UnionBank credit cards, echoed Lacson’s statement, saying “as long as the customer has the Bai Visa card, he would be able to pay his bills without even worrying about deadlines, disconnections or having to go to VECO offices to pay his bills.”
He explained that electric bills payments would be charged automatically from the Bai Visa account through the auto-charge service of the card.
