Johnny Delgado vowed to watch over his family
Before his peaceful death on Nov. 18, Johnny Delgado assured his family that he will continue to be with them in spirit.
“Death doesn’t mean na mawawala ako. It means I’m there--- di mo lang ako nakikita,” said Johnny, as related by his wife-director Laurice Guillen.
She added that the days leading to her husband’s demise gave their love the opportunity to grow stronger.
“We never felt love like we did this year. ‘Yung mga hindi tama, naitama,” she said.
In a separate interview, Ina Feleo, one of the actor’s daughters, recalled her father’s last few moments.
“May pain pero may moment na tumingin siya sa taas na parang amazed. Na-comfort ako kasi feeling ko sinundo siya,” she recounted.
Ina wrote and directed Johnny’s last film, “Labing-Labing,” a short feature film about a couple dealing with cancer which she made for her thesis.
“Sinulat ko siya in four hours kasi inspired ako kina Mommy and Daddy. It’s a short feature, 40 minutes. May original theme song siya, si Daddy ang kumanta,” Ina shared.
Anna Feleo, Johnny’s other daughter, said she will miss her dad’s laughter and all-out love.
“Mami-miss ko ‘yung tawa niya at ‘yung pagmamahal niya na ‘pag mahal ka niya, buhos talaga lahat,” a teary-eyed Anna said.
The veteran actor’s remains lie at the Mt. Carmel Chapel. His funeral will be on Nov. 24 at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina.
