Mayweather in Manny’s mind
Filipino boxing champ Manny Pacquiao has categorically stated that he is willing to fight Floyd Mayweather inside the ring.
“Lalaban pa ko. Nag-usap na kami,” said Manny.
A report that came out on Manila Bulletin recently stated that a day after Pacquiao stopped Cotto in the 12th round at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Mayweather released a press statement telling Pacquiao to be his own man and callout his name if the Filipino really wants the fight to happen.
“I have yet to hear him actually say, ‘yes I want to fight Mayweather.’ We are the fighters and if one fighter is talking about fighting another fighter, then they should just come out and say it. Manny Pacquiao doesn’t say anything directly about fighting me because he might just know it’s not a fight he can win,” Mayweather said in his official statement sent via email.
While the dream match is still under negotiations, the People’s Champ arrived in Manila on Nov. 20 together with his wife Jinkee and mother Dionisia. Manny was awarded the Order of Sikatuna (with the rank of “Datu”), the highest honor that’s usually given to heads of state.
Jinkee clarified why she cried during the Thanksgiving Mass for Manny in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Na-touch lang ako sa sinabi ng priest. Naisip ko na na-miss ko ang mga anak ko, [tapos] naka-survive siya [Manny] sa fight, natapos na ang training…” she told “Startalk.”
Ely Buendia pens ‘Panday’ theme
Pupil front man Ely Buendia has written the theme song of the Metro Manila Film Festival entry, “Panday,” starring Bong Revilla Jr.
“Fan ako ng mga soundtrack. I’m also a big fan of ‘Panday’,” he said.
The former Eraserheads member described the song as “medyo epic ang dating, medyo may pagka-muscular… may halo ring magic.”
He revealed that his collaboration album with the late King of Rap Francis Magalona is now on its post-production stage.
