The local office of APC, the uninterrupted power supply (UPS) company, recently named a new country general manager who will now oversee “green” initiative intended to help the environment and victims of the recent floods.

Frenchman Philippe Reveilhac, a 13-year veteran at APC’s mother firm Schneider Electric, has formally taken over the reins left by his predecessor and compatriot Pascal Bodin, who has gone back to France after serving in his post for only about seven months.

Reveilhac said the recession, which has affected most economies of the world, has led to a “pause” in opportunities for the company. However, he said expects business to pick up again because of the “erratic” supply of electricity in the country.

“The variation or surges of electricity here is a factor why our products sells,” the executive said, adding that the company is focusing of data centers right now.

APC, which has a major factory in Cavite whose output are distributed all over Asia Pacific, has also instituted a trade-in program for flood-damaged UPS units.

The “Trade-UPS Program,” which will last until the end of December, allows customers to turn in their non-working UPS units for up to 15 discount.
