Games on Tuesday (The Arena, San Juan)
2 p.m. — San Sebastian vs Adamson
4 p.m. — UST vs FEU

Far Eastern University avoided an embarrassing collapse by rallying from a set down to oust Ateneo, 25-12, 22-25, 25-27, 25-19, 15-9, to claim the last semifinals berth of the 6th Shakey's V-League Second Conference last Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.

The Tamaraws went to Most Valuable Player contender Cherry May Vivas, Monique Tiangco and guest player Rachel Anne Daquis in the pivotal set to earn a best-of-three semis affair with league-leading University of Santo Tomas which starts on Monday.

Vivas, the league's top scorer with 222 points, topscored anew with 26 points, Shaira Gonzalez and Daquis had 22 and 20 points, apiece, while Tiangco had a solid 10-point output for the Morayta-based squad.

"Maganda umpisa namin nung first set kaso ang nangyari hindi kami makareceive at makaset ng maganda nung next two sets," said FEU coach Nes Pamilar. "Pero nakapagadjust kami sa depensa kaya nakabalik kami."

It will be FEU's second straight semifinals appearance after placing fourth last conference.

It wasn’t, by no means, easy.

After winning six of their seven matches during the elimination round, the Lady Tams struggled in the quarterfinals, losing four of five matches while Ateneo eventually earned a playoff following an upset win over UST.

Behind sophomores Fille Cainglet and Angeline Gervacio, the Lady Eagles erupted in the second and third sets to put them on the brink of reaching the Final Four for the first time since last year's First Conference.

But the Lady Tams buckled down the work, scoring the first four points of the fourth set that gained them momentum to force a fifth set.
