CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Elements of the Highway Patrol Group 10 (HPG 10) based at Camp Evangelista, this city, scored anew against an organized carnap syndicate operating in Mindanao, a high ranking HPG 10 official said Tuesday.

Sr. Supt. Felixberto Castillo, HPG 10 chief, told members of the media that his team recovered at least four luxury vehicles in separate raids after he assumed office last month.

According to Castillo, those recovered by his operatives include an Isuzu Highlander, Toyota Innova, Mitsubishi Adventure, and Crosswind Sportivo.
“Aside from the four vehicles, we also recovered two motorcycles,” Castillo said during an interview.

He said the Isuzu Crosswind was first flagged down by his operatives for a violation where they found out that the vehicle was bought in Pampanga and was reported to have been carnapped.

The Toyota Innova, he said, was also later discovered that it came from Manila and was likewise reported to have been carnapped while being parked at a subdivision in Parañaque City.

The Mitsubishi Adventure was flagged down in Iligan City by elements of the HPG in the area under Insp. Dante Abraham while conducting an anti-carnapping operation.

HPG deputy chief Supt. Gabriel Lopez said the Isuzu Highlander was recovered in Gusa, this city.

He said that although carnapping is not rampant in the region, most of the carnapped vehicles were from Manila and eventually sold here at lower prices.

“Nalalaman natin na maraming carnapped vehicles are brought to Cagayan de Oro and sold to unsuspecting customers,” Castillo said.
