CEBU CITY – The ruling local One Cebu Party is set to announce on Saturday who it will support for President in the 2010 national elections, a pronouncement much-awaited by presidential hopefuls eyeing support from this vote-rich province.

One Cebu Party President and Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said the announcement will be made during the party’s convention at the Cebu International Convention Center, which is expected to be jam-packed with local bets are aligned with the local party.

Garcia had earlier said that once the party has made its choice for President it will "stick with the candidate come hell or high water. We do not play around or bet on different horses.”

The Cebu Governor has not given any hint as to who the party will support, although she is currently the provincial chairperson of the administration party Lakas-Kampi-CMD and has been wooed by various presidential candidates including Sec. Gilbert Teodoro, Sen. Manny Villar, and former President Joseph Estrada.

"We will choose the right candidate who is qualified to run this country. The candidate who has the capability, vision, and passion to commit all that he has, all his capability to help push our country forward," said Garcia.

She said that apart from the original One Cebu Party members, all those that have indicated their desire to join and those they decided to accept will also be at the CICC to take their oath of office during the party convention.

Garcia said the party will limit its declaration support to President since the positions for Vice President and Senators are still open.
