Wushu expert triumphs in URCC’s ‘Onslaught’
Roy “The Punisher” Docyogen of Lakay Wushu outsteadied Alvin Ramirez in a rugged showdown to retain his pinweight crown last Saturday in the Colt 45-Universal Reality Combat Championship XV dubbed as “Onslaught” at the World Trade Center.
Using his leg kicks and brilliant takedown techniques as a wushu specialist, Docyogen pounded Ramirez with wicked shots to the body to earn a unanimous decision over the hard-fighting Ramirez and extend his winning streak to seven in the event presented by Colt 45 and organized by URCC headed by Alvin Aguilar.
While Docyogen basked in the glory of his latest success, the dreams of Mark Sangiao and Caloy Baduria were shattered by their more superior foreign rivals in the event also supported by Alaxan FR, Globe Tattoo, No Fear Pony, & E-Games.
Sangiao, also of Lakay Wushu, was easily dispatched by Justin Cruz that enabled the Guamanian to retain his bantamweight crown while Baduria suffered another stinging defeat at the hands of reigning titlist Chinese Zhang Tie Quan in their middleweight showdown.
The 24-year-old Cruz combined power and speed to pull off a standing guillotine victory in the first round in what was easily the most applauded win in the scheduled 10-match slugfest also backed by Solar Sports, CS9, 99.5 RT, NU107, Getzmo? And Pinoy Exchange.
Ali Khatabi of DEFTAC also kept his featherweight title after his match with Andrew Benibe was declared a no-contest after Khatabi accidentally poked Benibe’s eye. Benibe even pleaded to the referee to allow him to continue fighting but his request was turned down.
Two-time SEA Games wrestling champion Marcus Valda was equally awesome as he dethroned heavyweight champion Vicente Pajaro Valda was on Pajaro’s back most of the time, punishing Pajaro with heavy blows from all angles.
