NEW DELHI (Dow Jones) – Air India has rescheduled delivery of 30 Boeing Co. planes and plans to lease out three new planes, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said.

The carrier has rescheduled delivery of three Boeing 777-300 Extended Range planes beyond 2010 and 27 Boeing 787 planes beyond their contracted delivery period starting April 2011, Patel said in a written reply to a lawmaker's query in the upper house of parliament.

He said Air India plans also to lease out three new Boeing 777-200 Long Range planes.

A panel of ministers is exploring all possible solutions for bringing Air India to "good health," Patel said.

"The plan envisages manpower cost rationalization, fuel management, route profitability enhancement and non-traffic revenue enhancement," he said.

Replying to another query, Patel said the Airports Authority of India has proposed to raise INR20 billion in the current year through borrowings to develop airport infrastructure in the country.

Airports Authority has raised INR3.8 billion in short-term loans as of Sept. 30, he said.

In response to another lawmaker's query, Patel said Air India's aircraft insurance cover for the policy year that began October comprises an average fleet value of $8.60 billion. The amount of premium is $24.24 million.

He said the National Aviation Company of India Ltd., which runs Air India, had issued a tender last March seeking bids from insurance companies for renewing its insurance policy for the fiscal year 2009-10.
