HOUSTON, California, November 25, 2009 (AFP) - Jason Kidd moved into second place on the NBA's all-time assists list Wednesday while Jason Terry scored 27 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks past Houston 130-99.

Kidd passed off seven assists to reach 10,337 for his career, three ahead of Mark Jackson and now trailing only the NBA-record 15,806 of retired Utah star John Stockton.

The record-breaker came 67 seconds into the third quarter on an alley-oop pass that set up a slam dunk by Frenchman Rodrigue Beaubois.

German star Dirk Nowitzki scored 25 points and Tim Thomas contributed a season-high 23 points for Dallas, which won for the 14th time in the past 18 games against the Rockets.

Shawn Marion scored 12 points in 31 minutes in his return after missing three games with a left ankle sprain for the Mavericks, who hit 9-of-17 from 3-point range.

Carl Landry scored 24 points to lead the Rockets.
