The Alabang-Sto. Tomas Development, Inc. (ASDI) denied allegations from residents affected by its Daang Hari-South Luzon Express Way Road Link Project of improper relocation practices and building procedures.

The Daang Hari C-6 Toll Road Project is a four-kilometer road link project of ASDI and the National Development Company, the investment arm of the government.

The four-lane road would connect Muntinlupa to Daang Hari road in Cavite and would pass through the 24-hectare property of New Bilibid Prison (NBP) reservation in Muntinlupa, where at least 50 families live. The cost of the project is pegged at P1.3 billion.

ASDI denied reports that it is causing the eviction of residents from their homes without prior notice and suitable relocation.

In a written statement, the road developer said it already served a 30-day notice to the affected families to vacate the construction site of the road link.

The notice will expire on November 27. However, some of the affected residents still refuse to leave despite being provided with an allowance of P5,000 a month for one year, which was distributed among them so they could find temporary residence until the 41-hectare relocation site within NBP compound is built.

ASDI also defended itself against claims that it is operating without a building permit from the local government of Muntinlupa.

It said since no local ordinance demands it, adding that under the Presidential Proclamation 1159, which converts the 366.7-hectare NBP property into a government housing site, the company is mandated to provide the area with access roads.

ASDI also assured the public that the project would comply with the environment standards of the Department of Public Works and Highways and not cause any flooding in the area since the estimated 1,000 trees in the construction site would be replanted in another location within the road project.
