Burger King hopes to carry the momentum of its back-to-back wins when it battles defending champion Talk ’N Text this Friday in the KFC-PBA Philippine Cup at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo City.
The Whoppers and the Tropang Texters collide at 5 p.m. while the Ginebra Kings and the Coca-Cola Tigers try to arrest their losing skids when they cross paths at 7:30 p.m. match.
Clashing in an exhibition match at 2:30 p.m. are Smart-Gilas national team and the streaking San Miguel Beer.
BK coach Yeng Guiao said their game against TNT will certainly test their character but he hopes that their previous two wins will help their cause.
The Whoppers ended a three-game losing spell with a 106-97 win over Coke and followed it up with a 102-86 win over Barako Bull.
But the Whoppers need another extraordinary effort to beat the inspired Phone Pals.
The Phone Pals, for one, coming off an impressive 87-72 win over a depleted Ginebra last Wednesdat that boosted their record to 5-3.
They should also closely watch sophomore wingman Jared Dillinger who produced his best game so far in the conference with 18 points and the same number of rebounds.
“It’s going to be tough, we’re up against the defending champion,” said Guiao, who will rely anew on team mainstays Gary David, Ronjay Buenafe, and Mark Yee.
“We all know that coming in to this conference they are one of the teams to beat,” he added.
Though the Whoppers’ last two wins came against teams that have struggled lately, Talk ’N Text mentor Chot Reyes knows they remain dangerous because of their tough physical defense.
