CEBU CITY – As part of its initiative to strengthen the capacity building program for livelihood projects, the Region 7 office here of the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE 7), in partnership with Cebu Silangan Lions Club, recently launched the “Negosyo sa Kariton” (Nego-Kart) in this city.

The Nego-Kart is a special project of DoLE to assist disadvantaged workers particularly the ambulant vendors in major cities by providing them with vending carts and necessary livelihood tools.

It will also provide the beneficiaries with training on production skills – if necessary – entrepreneurship and business management, and facilitate the issuance of business permits to operate in designated areas.

DoLE 7 Director Elias Cayanong said that aside from the essential tools needed, the project will also provide working capital for the procurement or production of marketable goods or services such as raw materials and other inputs.

“The project was designed to increase, upgrade and diversify our beneficiaries’ products and services so that it can be marketed to more costumers and buyers,” he said.

Cayanong added that through this special project, ambulant vendors here will also have the chance to learn from successful businessmen and women.

During the launching, at least 50 Nego-Karts were initially distributed to the identified beneficiaries of said project.

Among the initial recipients of the recently launched project include Saint Joseph in Tabunok, Talisay City with 35 carts, Barangay Labogon in Mandaue City with five carts, and 10 carts for this city.
