Artist-writer Marlene Aguilar, who was subpoenaed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in connection with the alleged involvement of her son Jason Ivler in the November 18 shooting to death of the son of a Malacañang official, said Friday she knew nothing about her son’s whereabouts and expressed belief that he was only framed up.

Aguilar, sister of folk singer Freddie Aguilar, appeared at the NBI Special Action Unit (SAU) headed by Angelito Magno, to give a statement regarding her son who was tagged in the fatal shooting of Ebarle Jr. at the corner of Boni Serrano and Granada Streets in Quezon City apparently following a “road rage” incident.

Accompanied by her lawyer, Alexis Medina, Aguilar said she had not communicated with her son since the last time she saw him in the morning of November 19.

“The last time I saw him at the Starbucks Coffee, my son seemed not bothered at all. He did not look that he was in trouble. I asked him to surface if he was guilty. This case is not about my son, this is about me because I wrote a book ‘Warriors of Heaven’ about the truth against the United States and Philippine governments. I feel sorry for my son. I am dead and my son dies when I die,” she said in between sobs.

Medina said his client appeared at the NBI to express her full cooperation and to tell the truth. “She sympathizes with the family of the victim. She also wants justice for the victim,” he said.

The NBI earlier warned individuals coddling Ivler that they face obstruction of justice.
