Only 1,000 units of the HP Mini by Studio Tord Boontje are available for in the Philippines.

How is that for individuality?

“Earlier this year we launched products at two spectrums of our HP Mini notebook portfolio the colorful HP Mini 110 for consumers, and the sleek and professional HP Mini 5101 for prosumers,” said Chua Hwee Koon, vice president, Mobile Business Unit, Personal Systems Group (PSG), HP Asia Pacific and Japan, in a press release. “With these two new HP Mini notebooks, we’re holding true to our promise to deliver new levels of individuality and connectivity to suit any lifestyle.”

In the same manner and path of individuality, HP PSG recently introduced to the local media the limited edition of HP Mini by Studio Tord Boontje and HP Mini 311.

Hwee Koon stated, “We look at every opportunity to design the ‘wow’ factor that surprises and delights people, and these two new HP Mini notebooks are great examples.”

The HP Mini by Studio Tord Boontje breaks new ground with the industry’s first three-dimensional PC surface technology HP Imprint 3D. It showcases Boontje’s pattern of flora and endangered animals that unravels into the palm rest and touchpad of the computer notebook.

Asked how did he select the flora and fauna featured in the mini PC, in a Q & A, the Dutch designer replied, “All the animals featured are endangered species and were selected purely by preference, not in particular order. I made sure there were animals from all over the world, to ensure diversity, and I chose animals that reflected the romantic style of the mini.”

Boontjie, one of today’s most decorated modern industrial designers added, “I designed the wall paper and icons. Hardware is a lot more complicated to design because of the technology, so I designed the mini PC first and then created screen graphics that were inspired by the exterior design. There are two types of graphics: neutral and brightly colored, depending on whether you want the screen to complement or contrast with the PC’s casing.”

Unique to this limited edition notebook are the 15 wall papers designed by Boontje, as well as customized Stardock MyColors desktop theme and custom screen saver. A reusable microfiber protective sleeves ships with the HP Mini and coordinated accessories also are available to purchase separately including a PVC-free wireless mouse and a handbag made from natural materials.

With a starting weight of 1.06 kilos and measuring just over one-inch thick, the HP Mini by Studio Tord Boontje features a 10.1 inch mercury-free LED display and 92% full size keyboard.

On another note, the HP Mini 311 is equipped with the largest screen on a Mini notebook. It connects easily to High Definition TV through a HDMI port, and users can also keep friends close with e-mail, chat and Web conferencing and VOIP from anywhere with WLAN, Webcam and optional WWAN.
