Lanao Norte situation improves

BUTUAN CITY – The peace and order situation in the province of Lanao del Norte significantly improved while business opportunities also mushroomed in almost all identified economic areas in the area, the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) reported over the weekend.

“The peace and order situation in the province significantly improved as a result of an inter-agency collaboration” among and between the Philippine Army (PA), Philippine National Police (PNP), other national and local agencies, non-government organizations and all other stakeholders herein,” said provincial information staff Vincent Labial.

The peace and order condition in the province came out during the PPOC assessment and meeting chaired by Lanao del Norte Gov. Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo at the Macapagal Training Center in the capital town of Tubod.

“The peace and order condition in our area of responsibility (AOR) is relatively stable and the situation has continuously remained normal and the atmosphere of tranquility prevails in the province,” also reported Lanao del Norte PNP director Sr. Supt. Minoy R. Darimbang during the meeting.

In addition, Mayor Abdulmalik Manamparan of Nunungan town, who is also the president of the Provincial Mayors’ League moved for the allocation of funds to reactivate and re-orient the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) to strengthen the peace force in order to deter any harassments or lawless activities since the 2010 national and local elections is fast approaching.
