Luis Manzano levels Angel alongside Pacquiao, Pempengco
Actor-TV host Luis Manzano believes ex-girlfriend Angel Locsin’s nomination in the recently concluded 37th Emmy Awards is an honor equal in magnitude to those that Manny Pacquiao, Arnel Pineda and Charice Pempengco have given the Filipinos.
"Sabi ko nga, after Pacquiao, after Charice, after Arnel Pineda, we now have Angel," he said in an interview aired on “Showbiz News Ngayon,” Nov. 27.
Angel was nominated in the Best Actress category for her role in “Lobo.” She is only the second Filipina to have been nominated in the category after Tessie Tomas for “A Dangerous Life” years back.
And though Angel lost to Great Britain's Julie Walters, Luis is still very proud of his ex-girlfriend.
"I saw the pictures and I told her na nakita ko siya. She looks unbelievably stunning.Pagkalabas pa lang ng pictures, pinakita na niya sa akin. As the awarding was happening, nakakausap ko siya," Luis shared.
He said he would have wanted to join Angel at the Emmys if not for his prior commitments. Angel, in an “SNN” episode, said that her “Lobo” partner Piolo Pascual was also unavailable to escort her.
Meanwhile, Luis talked about his parents Gov. Vilma Santos and vice-presidentiable Edu Manzano and their different political parties.
"It's very, very weird para sa sitwasyon ko. Of course my dad is under Lakas and my mom is under LP. But I support them as individuals," he said.
Luis also commented on his father's recent breakup with TV anchor-girlfriend Pinky Webb.
"Hindi natin alam. Malay natin, magkaayos. I'm sure they're doing really well."
For now, joining politics is not a priority for Luis. "Whatever I'm gonna run for, kung tatakbo man ako---if it crosses my mind--- pero siguro kung anuman 'yon, pag dumating ang oras na iyon… makikita naman at malalaman ng tao 'yon."
