Singer-actress Karylle was shocked upon learning that her picture figured in a cybercrime that was carried out by a Filipina con artist.
 
“May nag-email sa’kin, akala ko joke. Hindi pa nagsi-sink in sa’kin ‘yung gravity nung situation. Nung nabasa ko, ang lala na pala,” said Karylle.
 
American Allan Toor, the victim, met a girl via the Cherry Blossom chat room, who introduced herself as “Arkishra Toribio Manuel,” a 29 year-old from Consolacion, Cebu.
 
In the course of their correspondence, Arkishra emailed Toor a picture of Karylle which she claimed to be of her.
 
Toor and Arkishra eventually got engaged and in order for them to get married, he sent her 100,000 pesos. They also agreed to meet on Oct. 16 in Florida but no Arkishra showed up.
 
The Philippine National Police are now onto the case. According to “The Buzz” which researched on and aired the story, Arkishra’s profile on the Internet is no longer active.
 
The show also traced the picture of Karylle that Arkishra used to the actress’ Multiply account.
 
Although Karylle has no plans of filing a case against Arkishra, she emphasized that poverty is no excuse to use others, more so for a crime.
 
“Mahirap ang buhay, totoo. Pero hindi ‘yun dahilan para manggamit ng ibang tao. There’s always a better way,” said Karylle.
 
Angelica Panganiban to undergo tonsillectomy
Young actress Angelica Panganiban plans to have a tonsillectomy in 2010 as prior procedure to undergoing heart surgery.
 
“Natatakot din po ako, syempre, kasi sa age ko may heart ng issue na pinag-uusapan. Hindi pa rin kasi ganun ka-advisable na magpa-opera ako dun sa heart ko so gusto nilang unahin ‘yung tonsils ko,” she related.
 
Angel’s actor-boyfriend Derek Ramsay is worried for her.
 
“I’m scared kasi she needs to get her tonsils removed kasi apektado ‘yung puso niya, so siyempre that’s very serious. I’ve always told her na dapat patanggal na niya ‘yung tonsils niya, pero she’s stubborn like me. Ayaw niyang magpa-opera. So I’m scared that something might happen to her,” confessed the hunk-actor.
 
For now, Angelica focuses on keeping herself healthy.
 
“Ayoko na lang munang isipin. Basta nagpapaka-healthy na lang muna ako,” Angelica said.
 
On a lighter note, Derek revealed that his first gifts to Angelica were a dead nail and mud!
 
“I am extreme. First gift ko nga kay Angel, putik. She kept it.
 
“Then ‘yung patay na kuko. Until now she has it, green na nga ‘yung kulay eh. When I went to Australia for Frisbee, namatay ‘yung kuko ko. We met and we were together, ayun natanggal, binigay ko sa kanya,” he recounted.
 
Asked if they will ever say, “I Love You, Goodbye,” (the title of their Metro Manila Film Fest entry) to each other, Angelica declared: “Gagawin namin [ni Derek] ang lahat para di namin masabi na ‘I love you, Goodbye’ [sa isa’t-isa].”
