The online world is abuzz about the seeming mystery shrouding Maxim-Philippines’ upcoming Holiday issue.

Supposedly the popular men’s magazine last issue—as it has been widely reported to be closing shop soon—the December copy is among the hottest topics in some online fora specifically due to management’s choice of a certain ‘Gretchen’ for cover model.

Netizens are wondering who this ‘Gretchen’ is, citing the many ‘Gretchens’ in the local entertainment scene.

“Who is this Gretchen? Is it Barretto, Malalad, or Fullido?” asked one.  

Some are speculating that the Gretchen in question is none other than Gretchen Barretto, a former sexpot turned singer.

“She hasn’t been featured yet… I’m sure she is it—can’t wait,” wrote one.

“Though I’m sure she would want to be featured in the mag, she’s too old. I think I’m passing,” rebutted another.

There are some who are hoping for buxom, ABS-CBN news reporter, Gretchen Fullido.

“Man, I hope they’d have Ms. Fullido instead. Bitin iyong picture niya sa Uno [another popular men’s magazine]. I want more,” said one.

“Hopefully, Maxim will try to go out with a bang and feature someone really explosive—Gretchen? I hope its Fullido not Barretto,” opined another.

Eric Ramos, editor-in-chief of the said rag, didn’t help any, when he opted to be mum on the subject when reached through phone.

“I’d rather you wait for the [Holiday] issue. It’ll be out soon,” said he.

Asked about the end of Maxim, Ramos was tight-lipped as ever.

“I’d rather not comment on that. Just wait for the issue…take it from there.“
