Pampanga 2nd district now envy of others, says Lakas solon
Pampanga’s second district is now the envy of other congressional districts in the country following the decision of President Arroyo to run as congresswoman next year, an administration lawmaker said Wednesday.
Lakas-Kampi-CMD Rep. Abdullah Dimaporo of Lanao del Norte said Mrs. Arroyo’s likely constituents would be lucky to have her as their next congressional representative that he wished she would have decided to run in his district.
“We are happy that PGMA wants to continue serving the country. We are happy for the Pampangeño’s, but we would have been happier if PGMA had run in my congressional district,” said Dimaporo, who represents Lanao del Norte’s second district in Congress.
“She (Arroyo) grew up in Lanao and they have lands in Lanao del Norte. PGMA has done countless good things for the nation. She has performed more than any past President,” he added.
But the spokesman of the Nacionalista Party (NP) said that instead of running as congresswoman in Pampanga in 2010, Arroyo should instead give more time and effort on how she will leave a good legacy as Chief Executive of the land.
During the Fernandina news forum at the Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City, Nacionalista Party spokesman and senatorial candidate Adel Tamano said that if Mrs. Arroyo will continue in her bid to run as congresswoman in the second district of Pampanga, it will not only further tarnished her image, but also will be divisive for the country.
Tamano also said that running as congresswoman is not the way to have a graceful exit as leader of the country.
