Actress-singer Gretchen Barretto belies rumors that the ABS-CBN TV series she was set to do with sister Claudine was scrapped.

“No, it will push through,” says she.

Rumors about the project’s cancellation arose after Claudine signed up with rival station GMA-7 last week.

The elder Barretto reveals that the role previously offered to Claudine is now in the hands of young star Bea Alonzo.

“They added Bea in the cast. She will now be doing the role intended for Claudine,” she confirms, adding that work on the yet-untitled series will start February next year.

Although Gretchen admits that she is saddened more than surprised by her sister’s decision to leave ABS-CBN, she respects it.

“I felt bad…I felt sad. I think, more than anything, it made me sad,” shares Barretto who heard of the news through friends.

“I was looking forward to working with her, but maybe it’s God’s will that we separate ways [in terms of work]. I’m sure we will be given another chance to do a series or whatever in the future.”

Barretto says she tried calling her youngest sister to talk about the matter, but that her calls weren’t returned.

Nonetheless, Barretto says she wishes the best for her sister.
