Here’s revealing news: TV host and movie scribe Rey Pumaloy suffered a wardrobe malfunction that brought the house down during the Christmas party tendered by TV5 for the local entertainment media at PETA Theater in Quezon City, Dec. 3.

Pumaloy was a contestant for “Talentadong Press” (a take off from TV5’s highest-rating show “Talentadong Pinoy”), which had media reporters showcasing their various talents.

Garbed in a long gown, Pumaloy, the second to the last contestant, impersonated Bb. Pilipinas World winner Janina San Miguel.

Midway through his act, Pumaloy took off his gown to reveal himself in a string bikini. However, in doing so, the string of his bikini got untied causing the skimpy attire to come undone!

Quick to his senses, Pumaloy immediately covered his crotch and headed backstage while the audience madly guffawed, their loud cheers and chants filling up every corner of the theater.

Host Ryan Agoncillo was shocked and so were the judges composed of Tuesday Vargas, Lucy Torres-Gomez, and Audie Gemora.

Prior to each of the contestant’s performance, a VTR about the talent to be showcased was shown.

Pumaloy’s seemed to have been a warning of things to come: “Hindi ko alam ang gagawin ko kasi nagawa ko na lahat. Nagawa ko nang kumanta at sumayaw.

“Pero, tinitiyak ko sa inyo, itong gagawin ko, talagang magugunaw ang mundo.”

Since his performance was abruptly cut short by the wardrobe malfunction, Pumaloy was allowed to repeat his act.

“Nakita ba si junior?” Pumaloy asked when he finished performing.

“Lahat nabura nang lumabas ka. Okay lang 'yon, naayos mo naman ang pagkakatago. Hindi naman masyadong brutal. Pero mabilis kasi ako sa mga ganyan. 'Yan ang tinatawag na grace under pressure,” Tuesday commented on Rey’s performance.

“Hindi ko ini-expect na babalik ka kasi kita na 'yong ‘farmville’ mo. But good performance,” Lucy said which caused the audience to laugh boisterously.

Audie was also “overwhelmed” by Rey’s performance. “Oh, God, ito talaga ang hindi ko makakalimutan till I die. I’ve known you for so long, but I feel I know you better now,” he said.

“Pero, forgetting all of that, nakakatuwa. Kahit na hindi nangyari ang wardrobe malfunction, I think panalo ka pa rin.”

True enough, Pumaloy romped away with the top prize of P30,000 cash.

His runners up were Leo Bukas, who performed a Cabaret number mucho con gusto, and Glen Sibonga, who delivered a very emotional monologue.
