Typhoon victims set to receive housing units
ILOILO CITY (PNA) — Families displaced by typhoon “Frank” last June 2008 will be receiving their early Christmas gift with the turnover of 100 completed units of the core shelter project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Monday next week.
Roy Firmeza, the former head of the Iloilo City Urban Poor Affairs Office (ICUPAO) said Vice–President Noli de Castro and Social Welfare Secretary Esperanza Cabral are expected to grace the ceremony.
He said that they expect all of the 500 houses to be completed in the next two to three months and all the identified recipients would be able to transfer immediately to their respective units.
The P35-million fund for the project was provided by the national government.
