HDC marks 25 years of building middle-class homes

The Homeowners Development Corporation (HDC) led by its president, Jaime I. Hernandez, will celebrate its 25th anniversary this December as it continues to build communities for its niche – the middle-class market.
Hernandez affirmed that it is the strongest and most stable market in all economic trends and conditions.
“Two-story, single-detached houses and clusters of townhouses in secured gated residential communities beat all other offerings in the real estate market,” said Hernandez. His late father, Atty. Jose C. Hernandez, former Rizal vice-governor, started company operations in 1984 with its first subdivision project, the Madonna Homes, in Cainta, Rizal.
For the next 25 years, HDC’s projects have grown to 18 other subdivisions. These include Bridgestone Park, Northwood, Metrogreen, Metropolis 1 and 2 Villages in Pasig City; Marwood Village in Angono, Rizal; Midland Homes, Roosevelt Park, Golden Mile and Birmingham Place in Cainta, Rizal; Panorama Hills and Birmingham Homes in Antipolo City; Metrogreen Village in Quezon City, and more. Its latest, Birmingham Plains, is in Greater Poblacion, General Trias, Cavite.
All these subdivisions are located in the town or city proper where schools, churches and work places are accessible through 24-hour public transportation and developed with modern amenities to suit the Filipino family.
Since its inception, Hernandez said, HDC has always relied on using conventional methods of construction, thus assuring buyers of superior construction quality. It does not use prefabricated construction materials. Instead, it uses concrete hollow blocks mixed with concrete, gravel and sand and reinforced with steel bars on solid foundation to assure buyers of the high market value and durability.
The two-story house models to choose from are Gloucester, Northampton, Southampton, and Manchester. Floor areas range from 64 to 132 sqm. All units come with three bedrooms and two toilet-bathrooms, with carport. The Coventry and Dover are the two-story townhouse models with a floor area

GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center inaugurated
oyota Motor Philippines’ (TMP) and the University of the Philippines formally inaugurated last week the P100 million GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center. The new building will be the new home of the university’s Asian Center located in the main campus in Diliman, Quezon City.
The event, which was attended by top executives from Toyota, UP, foreign diplomats and local politicians, introduced two new structures in the one-hectare GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center:
The Hall of Wisdom and the Asian Center Auditorium. The structures were the fulfillment of TMP’s P100-million pledge, which was announced during the 20th anniversary of Toyota Motor Philippines last August 2008. This was the largest private donation received by UP in its centennial year.
“The facilities that we have built here shall showcase the rich heritage of Asia and provide perspective on the global role that it plays in the 21st century. These structures will become landmarks in the university, and more importantly, a melting pot of cultures,” said TMP chairman Dr. George S.K. Ty.
The project started in March 2008 and was developed by Dean Aileen Baviera as part of the Asian Center’s UP Centennial fund-raising activities. Senator Edgardo Angara, chairman of UP’s Centennial Commission, also helped in securing this P100 million gift to the University. Construction began in March 2009. The structure of 50 to 63 sqm, all with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. HDC also offers vacant lots for buyers who would like to build homes using their designs.
HDC is an active member of the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Association (CREBA) and the Subdivision and Housing Developers Associations (SHDA). Its office is at the third floor of Hernandez Bldg., 154 Katipunan Ave., Saint Ignatius Village, Quezon City.
