There’s a spot that’s brewing and jazzing up the Malate area. It dubs itself as a one-stop place for your nights out in town. And it comes in the color red and elicits attention with its commandeering built.

When businessman and Manila City Councilor Erick Valbuena decided to open the Red Carpet Bar together with a business partner, they didn’t exactly bank on the color red.

“It’s not because of the color red, rather, it’s because of the basic instinct of people that once you say ‘red carpet’ it means VIP,” he says. He adds that the aim of this venture is to make each customer feel like an important person every time they visit.

The Red Carpet Bar has a sports bar, a disco club, a coffee shop, and even a small perfumery.

Why put everything under one roof? Since the area spans 1,200 sq. m., Valbuena decided to put up a two-floor entertainment building where families can have different sections to choose from, depending on their own definition of what constitutes a great night out. Besides, variety is a key factor in making a place more exciting and less prone to becoming staid or just another fad.

Warming up

The establishment’s coffee shop is of modest size and provides a cozy environment for those seeking a temporary break from the loud thumping beats of the nearby music and dance club. It is managed by Valbuena’s wife Aileen.

The foods served in this area are usually pasta dishes and sandwiches matched with a wide array of drinks. Coffee beverages, in particular, are served in a multitude of ways: iced, blended, or simply hot to perk up the senses with some caffeine fix.

There are also pastries and cakes if the sweet tooth demands such saccharine cravings.

A WiFi service is also offered so that customers can be online and keep tab on the latest happenings and trends while eating and drinking.

Aileen says that if things go well, they are planning to keep the coffee shop’s operations open 24/7.

Dance the night away

As you step out of the coffee shop’s premises, you can immediately see the spacious club where night owls converge. The area serves as a venue for local bands and DJs to belt out their music while patrons sit on the tables or simply dance the night away.

Cocktail drinks and other beverages are offered here along with bar chow and meals that span coverage of different cuisines such as Japanese, American, and Filipino, among others.

Chillax

Going upstairs, one can find a sports bar where couches are laid out for optimum relaxation. If lounging around is more your type, then this is the place for you.

Diners are given free access to board games such as chess to stimulate the mind. There is also a TV where you can watch sports shows or the latest soap operas in town.

If you want to hone your sports skills, you and your friends may rent the billiard table or the dartboard area where fees are rated on an hourly basis.

The Red Carpet Bar and Restaurant also takes service to another level. Fickle-minded people may jump from one section to the other should they wish to. While the place has a different menu for each section, customers may order what they like and eat it regardless of where they want to stay.

For example, if one wants something from the coffee shop, s/he may opt to eat it in the sports bar upon request.

Upon exit, you may also wish to drop by the small perfumery where branded scents are sold upon a fraction of the price their department store counterparts offer. The items are authentic and are sourced directly from Japan.

Valbuena says that he wishes to enliven the Malate area and improve its vibrant nightlife more. With the Red Carpet Bar and Restaurant, he and his team are off to a good start.

The Red Carpet Bar is located at 1663 Jorge Bocobo St., Malate, Manila and may be reached at 450 1484.
