Maja Salvador does a Julie Vega

Young actress Maja Salvador is seen portraying the role of a demonically possessed in the trailer for the 11th edition of “Shake, Rattle, and Roll” franchise. With her seemingly convincing act, the press cannot resist reconnecting her to the one the late Julie Vega did before her untimely demise.
One of the brightest young stars to ever grace the local screen, Vega also played a “possessed” girl in one of the episodes of “Lovingly Yours, Helen The Movie” many years ago. There were unconfirmed reports that the actress was haunted by some paranormal thing during and after the shoot which turned out to be her last movie before she died.
Maja, a current screen sensation and product endorser, hinted some form of hauntings in connection with her shoot for the trilogy’s “Diablo” episode directed by Rico Gutierrez. In a chat with the press, she said, “Minsan nagising ako saktong 3 a.m. and natakot talaga ako that I had to go to my mother’s room.”
Of course, 3 a.m. is dubbed as the unholy hour by people believing in the supernatural. Maja recounted she was really immersed to the project and too much thinking about it must have brought such coincidence.
Maja’s role for her latest film is that of Claire, a young doctor-intern at a provincial hospital who encounters a female patient suspected of being sick with a deadly virus. The haunting begins after that encounter, leading her to an old flame named Ronnie (played by Mark Anthony Fernandez) who is now a priest.
“I have been a fan of ‘Shake, Rattle, and Roll’ movies,” noted Maja. “It’s a dream come true for me to finally star in this trilogy series.”
A relative to showbiz figures Leroy and Jobelle Salvador, Maja is a busy star these days, as she is also the endorser of Sisters Pantyliners which comes in 8 or 20 packs. She is said to have been chosen because “she personifies the Sisters’ advocacy of empowering young women nationwide by encouraging excellence, self-confidence and freedom.”
“Shake, Rattle & Roll 11” opens in theaters on Dec. 25 as part of this year’s Metro Manila Film Fest.
